A Day at the Bill

Saturday we spent another fun (but warm) day at Bill Snyder Family Stadium to cheer on the Cats.
We've been a busy family this fall with work, school, fall baseball for Mitchell, cross country for me and then this past week was parent teacher conferences at EMS.
We know spending our Saturday's together as a family at football games is such a blessing and the fact that we can walk home from the stadium if half of us leave early is part of what we love about living in Manhattan!

Training Wheels

Last week Collin requested his training wheels come off his bike. Even though we complied with this, we had our doubts how this would go.
His will to keep up with the neighborhood big kids quickly evaporated on the first attempts last weekend. After all it's still Collin and he still likes to do things his way, which is usually also the hard way.

What started as a rocky second timeout sans training wheels, quickly turn a turn for the better! He isn't completely independent, but can go further and further stretches by himself! His confidence is also much improved which is a huge factor for him!
We are all feeling more confident that the training wheels will stay off and the bike won't stay in the garage without them on.

Camping Minus Mom

Chad has been wanting to take the boys on a camping trip for sometime now, but our busy schedule and the weather had never made it work out and this weekend.
The boys went to fancy Creek after a wildcat win on Saturday afternoon and set up camp. The weather was perfect and they were all very excited!
While I was at my first cross country meet Saturday morning they went shopping for their supplies. After some deliberation I decided not to go up to the campsite at all. This way Collin would not be tempted to come home with me when I left and it could truly be a boys night camping.
While they enjoyed a long adventure hike and cooking out over a campfire.... I enjoyed cleaning the entire house (and it actually staying clean for a little while after I was finished) an evening at reading and watching football.
And they even all made it through the night at their campsite! While I was very thankful to Chad for giving me an evening to myself, I was happy to have the boys home early this morning! They had a great time and are already talking about their boys only camping adventure.
