585 miles

The NYE snow will keep me from running today, so my grand total of miles ran for 2012 will have to remain at 585.  I was hoping to reach 600 this year, but I still feel pretty good about my mileage for the year!
In 2012, I successfully ran TWO half marathons!  I also completed my first trail race ( a 10 mile race that felt more like I ran 15 miles that day,) which was a bigger accomplishment than I realized it would be when I initially signed up thinking it would just be a good way to get in a long training run.  I also ran a 10K as well as a couple of 5K's as well.
Chad had another amazing year completing his first every Half Ironman Triathlon....70.3 miles of combined swimming, biking and running this summer at Clinton Lake outside of Lawrence, KS!!  He also ran his third ever full marathon (always an unbelievable accomplishment) and pushed me to keep going and not give up running the 10 mile trail race this past spring.
Along with running  a 10K and some 5K's he also competed in his first adventure race this fall as well.  He is battling a serious ankle issue that really has him down and hurting.  We are hopeful that a few cortisone shots will have him able to train like he would like to again soon!
We have already signed up for the Lincoln Half Marathon in May 2013 and Chad is hopeful he will be able to compete in another 70.3 mile triathlon in June.  Being active, pushing ourselves and having these kinds of goals keep us going and something we have both really come to enjoy.
The pictures with this post have had absolutely nothing to do with the content, but they tell a story all their own.  This sequence from the start and end of this blog is what happened at last weekend's KSU Basketball game when I got out the camera during a time out and said "hey, let's take a quick picture together boys."  This last shot is when I finally said "OK, can I just have one normal pose where you are both smiling at me, please?"  This is what I was given....

The higlights of Christmas

Here are some highlights from Christmas 2012, no surgery or backed up septic tank makes it a much improved holiday for the Bunger's!
From our first Christmas celebration in Hildreth with the Bunger's.  I think Mitchell's face says it all!
Locked and loaded for Christmas Eve celebration with Grandma and Grandpa Ammeter.
Are we forgetting anything for Santa?  Let me think.....

Christmas morning at our house....more presents and lots of excitement.  Between these three Christmas celebrations, over 1,000 lego pieces were generated.
Santa has always been so good about making everyone feel special. :)

Santa sure is thoughtful!

I will be sure to post more pictures soon....our laptop needs a new chord and I can't post more photos until we have a new one.

I was able to run a 5k distance on the treadmill today. I'm ready to leave the holiday eat-a-thon behind & start training soon.

Snow Day

After an entire year....there was a celebration at our house this morning.  We had our first SNOW DAY of the school year!
And to celebrate our unexpected day off together (and Mommy's love for a good list) we came up with a comprehensive plan to maximize our snow day fun!
And we've done pretty well accomplishing most of the items on our list....

I think we'll save the board games and dance party until Chad get homes from work (he has the best moves, after all.)  One day back to school/work tomorrow and then our Holiday Break will begin!!

Clearly

We visited Santa Claus yesterday and according to Mitchell he thinks this one might have been the real deal.  When asked what him think that this wasn't just one of Santa's "step-in helpers" he commented that his beard was clearly real.   Clearly.
And to celebrate a successful and line free visit to see Santa, these goofy pictures proceeded our visit!

Then we went home for some holiday baking....a fun, but messy process.
At times it looked as though it may have been snowing powdered sugar in the kitchen?

But this weekend more than ever.....I was more than happy to clean up after making Christmas memories with our two blessings.

Magical Moments

Last week was Mitchell's 2nd Grade Program "A Holiday Moosical".  He was very excited to have a speaking part, playing the roll of Boy Rag Doll.
He did a great job with his lines and the show was very cute!  I think we may have a budding performer in the family.  I wonder where that comes from? :)

Bobby continues to baffle the boys each morning with his many tricks and messages.  Here are some of his latest moves from the highlight reel.

The last one was just discovered today.  Bobby has brought everything needed for a movie night and wrapped it for the boys...including new matching PJ's, hot chocolate mix and popcorn.  And thanks for the new role of wrapping paper Bobby...I was running low!

Holiday Festivities

The days before Christmas are very busy for us this year...but also filled with lots of great holiday fun!  Who doesn't love a good "Awesomely Awful Christmas Sweater Party?!?!?
And I had to include some more photos that were posted of our church Christmas Program last Sunday.  I love this one of Mitchell!!
Collin's personality may be more suited for a lion at times....but he made a pretty cute little lamb!
While I haven't given up on running entirely this holiday season....I haven't been able to get back into a consistent groove either.  January will bring the start of a new year and will also mark another "week 1" in my training plan towards my 7th Half Marathon!!!

Christmas Program 2012

This afternoon we had our the children's Christmas Program at our church and the boys did a fantastic job!

Here is a video clip of one of their favorite songs
Thanks to our wonderful church family at CAUMC for allowing the Bunger's boys to be a part of this great program!!

Bobby's antics

Bobby seems to be a little on the mischievous side this year....
He found some old chocolate from Halloween and helped himself.
And then one morning he switched out the boy's pictures with his own self portraits!
He's had a few things to say when each of the boys have had a not-so-great day.....
How does he always know????

Enter the Lodge

We just returned from a mini vacation to the Great Wolf Lodge in Kansas City and we had a great time!
If the excitement of our first trip to this hotel and indoor waterpark wasn't enough.  All the Christmas decorations and visit from Rudolph sent it over the top for the boys.

Mitchell would tell you his favorite part of the water park was the giant bucket that dumped over every 5 minutes.
After supper and driving around the plaza to see all the Christmas lights, we went back to the hotel for story time where it even snowed!!
I will take this kind of snow any day!!! :)

Bunger Family Pictures

While we were back in Nebraska last weekend, we took some family pictures with the Bunger's.
The idea for our apparel was Grandma Bunger's and they turned out great!
Little Wyatt's shirt/with tie was so cute....even though it did say Huskers on it. ;)

While we had a great trip to Nebraska, we also managed to bring the stomach flu back with us again. That's now two trips in a row to the Cornhusker state that has resulted in at least half our family laid out with the flu.  Here's hoping our trip back for Christmas will be illness free!!
