Six Full Weeks

This week I'll be wrapping up my second season as the assistant middle school cross country coach at EMS. What a great group of kids we have and I'm excited to see them finish the season with our last two meets this week. And while I've been busy at meets most weekends this September, the boys have been cheering on KSU in my absence!

And Collin is loving his experience playing flag football this fall! We are all excited to see him actively participate with a positive attitude!

5th grade has loaded Mitchell's fall schedule as well with swim team, trombone and of course,homework! 

This weekend he worked hard on a social studies project about Native American Dwellings.

Trying to teach an 11 year old about time management (aka not waiting until the last moment) is always interesting.

Everyone survived the project with only a few minor meltdowns when he was forced (his words) to re-write his final paper.  Mitchell learned that final didn't necessarily mean the 2nd copy. The horror! Ah, working hard and perseverance  on one's own....great life lessons. (Deep breaths by parents inserted here)

We've survived the first very full six weeks of school. Bring on October and all it has in store!

Fly Fishing

 

Chad just returned home from his third fly fishing trip with a great group of guys from our church.  It looks like they had an amazing time!

This time they back packed into their camp site in a new area Chad has not fished before.  I am impressed with all this and it looks like it was well worth it for the group.  Fly fishing, camping and Colorado are certainly some of Chad's favorite things!
