Bill Snyder Highway Half

I have committed to this race!  The Bill Snyder Highway Half Marathon...first of it's kind and will take place on May 23rd.  I'm pretty sure I couldn't NOT sign up for this race....you get a powercat medal at and it ends at Bill Snyder Family Stadium.  This race has me written all over it.
This race is going to be challenging.  It is a point to point race, starting out by the interstate on a beautiful (but very hilly) HWY 77 into Manhattan.
I have still not signed up for the upcoming Wicked Half Marathon in Wamego at the end of March.  I haven't ran a half marathon this early in the spring as of yet and I am a little hesitant of what the weather may be like for this smaller race.  I am scheduled to run 7 miles this weekend for my long run and I know that very soon I need to just make the commitment to this as well.  Gotta keep myself motivated and keep running!

Eventually

I've finished two full weeks of training and have already ran more miles this month than I ran total in December.
It's been a tough (and slow) road back to distance running. I'm always amazed how quickly I lose my fitness level after what seems like a LONG time to achieve it.
But I'm determined to keep going and know I will get back there....eventually.

It's Time...

To post about running again!  I haven't mentioned running much (or at all really) in my blog now for several months.  And I am well aware that the title of my blog is about running, so I thought it was time to focus on this again.
With the new year and big family trips behind us, I have decided to commit to my next half marathon for 2015.  I am deciding to stick close to home this spring with two possible events. Even though I have not registered yet and I am a little behind my normal training schedule, I am looking at running the Wicked Marathon in Wamego, KS on March 29th.

I ended 2014 running just over 600 miles for the year. And while I didn't totally give up on running the last few months of the year, I can say I wasn't running with much consistency and my distance suffered tremendously because of this.  Right now my goal is just to get back into half marathon shape and finish this March race strong.

Yesterday the Manhattan Running Company announced that they will be partnering with KSU to host a Half Marathon on May 23rd in Manhattan!  I am very excited about this race and believe there will be many others I know running this race.  So if all goes well, I will complete my 9th and 10th Half Marathon in 2015!!!

100

It is only fitting that my first post for 2015 would be my Grandma Craney Who is 100 years old today!
Last week we were able to have two separate birthday celebrations for her with many of her friends and family in attendancefor this very special occasion!
My mom did such a great job putting these two events together for her. The first was held in Manhattan at her assisted living facility.
Then Sunday the family journey to Peabody for church a special lunch at her favorite Braums and then another birthday celebration after in the church parlor.
And now today for her actual birthday we will celebrate again with more ice cream Sundays at Freddys!
Happy 100 birthday to Opal Craney! She is truly an amazing woman!
