Proud Parents

It's time to brag on the Bunger Boys. :)
Mitchell's baseball season is winding down with on game remaining. One bonus this season was having his best buddy from school, Jaden on the team this year.

And Mitchell got to play first base during both games of our double header last night and really made us proud...he did great!
And both boys have been having fun and working hard in this first session of swim lessons as well. Collin was so proud of himself today for passing to Level 4.

And Mitchell also passed today and is now in Level 8. Lots of summer time success at the Bunger House!

Life-a-versary

June 22nd marks the one year anniversary that changed our lives with Chad's cardiac event.  In 2013, this was just supposed to be just another Saturday in the summer time.  We had planned a trip to Nebraska to spend the weekend with Chad's cousins near York.  Chad woke very early that morning to run 6 miles with a local running group he had ran with for the first time the week before.  I didn't think any of it when I noticed  I had a missed call from a blocked number around 7:15 or so.  The knock on the door that happened moments later was like something out of an overly dramatic Lifetime movie...
I won't rehash the whole story as I know most everyone has heard it many times.  If not, I blogged about it while Chad was still in the hospital and you can read it here.

Today we celebrated in KC with a Royals game and had great seats for the game.  And we are so totally grateful that we could do this together as a family.  It's something we don't take for granted as easily anymore.

Life is precious.  And Chad's journey one year ago is nothing short of a miracle that we are thankful for each day.

Then

13 years ago today I made the best decision of my life.

I could really sum up the way I feel about Chad with the lyrics from Brad Paisley's song "Then".  Cheesy, I know but very true.

Every day we have together is truly a blessing. And this year is lucky 13.  The fact that he has put up with me through 13 years of marriage (and 2 years prior dating)....says something about his strength and patience in itself. :)

I thought I loved him then....can't believe the way I feel about you today, Chad Bunger.  I only hope that the good Lord blesses us with many more years together.  I'm thankful for every day I have you in my life. Can't wait to celebrate our anniversary later this summer with parasailing in Florida!!!

I Love Summer

As of Friday evening....I have finished scheduling and I am OFF for the summer!!  Whoo-hoo!!
I was in the office Monday and Tuesday, but have been working from home since with the boys.  Wednesday morning we took a hike out on the Konza Praire...with all the rain we've had, everything was very green with many flowers in bloom.
I was so proud of the boys!  They did a great job, did not complain and we made it up to the top of a very large hill where Chad says is about 1.5 miles one way.  No complaining for that distance...impressive!  Collin dubbed himself as our "lead teacher" for the journey to the top.

We also had a picnic lunch with daddy over his lunch hour another day and then got signed up at the library for our summer book club.  Mitchell also stayed for a science class which was great timing on our part.
The highlight of the week was the much anticipated count down to K-Day at our home....which was the day Grandma and Grandpa were going to adopt their first of two kittens!!!
Kitten #1.  Oh. My. Goodness.  Isn't he adorable?!?!  And we get to watch him for the weekend!  We'll pick up Kitten #2 who will hopefully be ready to be adopted on Sunday.
Our Friday afternoon was consumed with kitten-sitting.  I'm pretty sure Mitchell would have smothered this little guy with love and affection if we would have let him.
And Leo hasn't been too bad at all with our little house guest.  There has been quite a bit of howling and hissing....but he has actually showed an interest in playing with our guest....especially the toys he came home with!
And now I am sitting on the deck enjoying the beautiful weather this June evening.  I LOVE SUMMER!!!!

June Crazy's

The first full week of June turned out to be a crazy one.  We started off with Chad being gone for the whole week to a national convention on flood plain management in Seattle Washington where he was also a presenter.  So with daddy away, I still didn't find myself alone at night.
Family bed rules came into play with one parent gone....Every.  Night.
The rest of the week was a little chaotic with a baseball double header one night for Mitchell, T-ball another night for Collin and 3 evening cross country practices I needed to attend as I will be the assistant coach next year at EMS. And I also spoke at a class at KSU and then presented at school counseling conference put on by KSU in town toward the end of the week.  Thank goodness for Grandma and Grandpa Ammeter being in town to help on all the nights we were double booked while Daddy was away!

But we squeezed in a little pool time Monday before the real craziness of the week started.  With cross country practices and cooler temperatures Monday morning, I was finally able to get a week of running over 10 miles accomplished and have a goal to run 10-15 miles per week every month in June.
We are thankful this week will slow down to more of a summer-like feel as I wrap up enough with work that I can finish up what I need to from home after a final few days in the office and of course we are glad to have Chad home!!
And Mitchell asked that I include his picture of Leo the Backyard Explorer in my blog (actually there were many photos like this but we just chose one).  Can you believe this crazy declawed cat has jumped /climbed up farther than bird house on this tree???

Bunger Family Vacation in Omaha

We had a great weekend with the Bunger Family in Omaha at the Zoo and Coco Keys!  We celebrated Collin's birthday as well as both Grandma and Grandpa Bunger!!
Collin was a little nervous about the Skyfari at first.  It was "pretty high and he might fall"....but as soon as he saw the Giraffe's below he said "look Mommy!!!  They are so beautiful!" And after that the whole ride was pure joy.
It was a great way to celebrate Grandma and Grandpa turning 60 this year!!
It was a hot and sweaty day at the zoo, but the boys did great with all the walking....we thought it was good practice for our fall trip to Disneyworld. :)

And spending time with our nephews was an added bonus.  Isn't Aiden adorable?!
Wyatt loved the zoo as well and we were able to see our own things separately as families and find time to be together as well.
Won't this be a great black mail picture for later?!

Zoo

After the zoo we headed back to Coco Keys for some serious afternoon/morning swimming.  Collin went off ALL the slides...even was tall enough for the slides!  And even more impressive after going down these big slides with Chad and I about 6 or 7 times, he started going down solo!!
And our legs were thankful for the break from the many steps to the top.....

It was a great summer weekend with family!!!
