CAUMC Christmas Program

Sunday was our church's annual Children's Christmas Program.
This Christmas Program capped off a VERY busy weekend for the Bunger Family....

But even with all the craziness this time of year brings, I know this will not last forever as the boys grow.  So I try to take it all in and enjoy every moment...even the jam packed weekend events like this one turned out to be.
I have no clue what Collin was doing here...but this picture is hilarious!!!

And one last large group shot.  Oh wait, who is that precious little lamb picking his nose?

Such great pictures of this fun event!  Thanks to our church family for these pictures, and a great children's program!

Week 2 with Bobby

Our Christmas Cards are ready to send, more presents are wrapped and under the tree, and Bobby's kept the boys on their toes again this week!
He found himself in a bit of a tight squeeze to start the week...
And made it to the North Pole and back each night, even with the freezing temperatures we had this past week!
He had fun playing with Santa presents from years past....
And reunited beloved 1980's cartoon classic characters while roasting marshmallows.

Where will we find him next???

Senior

It's been a LONG time since anyone in our house held the title of senior (longer than either Chad or I want to mention)....and the boys are still early in their educational careers, so what could this title possibly mean?!

Last week, Chad interviewed for the position of Senior Planner within the City of Manhattan's Community Development Department where he has worked for almost 6 years.  We are excited to report that yesterday he was offered and accepted this promotion!  He will begin in his new role on December 23rd and we couldn't be prouder of him!!!

Literally, even Leo was LEAPING for joy when he heard the news!  Okay, maybe this picture has nothing to do with my post, but this picture of Air Leo was too funny not to include.  Additionally, Leo's enthusiasm is quite representative of how excited I am for Chad in this well deserved new professional role.  Now if we can just keep Leo from eating the wrapping paper off the edges of our wrapped presents to show his appreciation of all Chad's hard work..........

Week one of Bobby's Antics

So far Bobby has shared some important lessons with the boys when is comes to our big kitten Leo...
He has been down right ornery!
And he continues to involve others in the magic of the holiday season.
Where will the boys find our Elf on a Shelf next??

Classic Christmas

The past few years, I have really loved the Christmas Season.  I'm sure it has something to do with  the season being so magical for the boys and because they love every part of it, it is all just so much fun!  And of course, I love listening to Christmas music as much as possible during this short month.  I have many, many favorites...some  of which are choral arrangements from days of high school and college choir.  Then many more still that I have listened to since they were on 8 track/vinyl records when I was young!  I tried to narrow down my all time (non hymnal/choral arrangements) Christmas favorites below in random order:

1. The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don't be Late)

I LOVED this whole album when I was little!  I'm pretty sure we had this one on a record...wow that dates me!!!

2. 12 Days of Christmas
There is no other version that compares to the one sang by John Denver and the Muppet's! My favorite is Dr. Bunsen and Beaker's 9 Ladies Dancing....Classic!

3. Perry Como's Home for the Holidays

My college roommate Kim, will tell you how much I LOVE this song....but only sung by this man.  No one does it better.

4.  Merry Christmas Darling
Again, this song is only done right when you hear it sung by Karen Carptenter.

5. Mele Kalikimaka

We might as well make a separate list for Bing Crosby.  I love all of his Christmas song covers!  In fact....

6.  Round and Round the Christmas Tree

Also sung by Bing.  I always wonder why you don't hear this tune more....it is a great one!!

7. Christmas Time is Here

The Instrumental version of this by the Vince Guaraldi Trio always gets to me.  I love all of the music from The Charlie Brown Christmas Special.  It's probably why this is also my favorite Christmas show.

8.  Little Saint Nick

Who doesn't enjoy a holiday song from the Beach Boys? You might deny it, but I bet everyone sings along in the car when they here it.  This is another album I am almost positive we had on vinyl.

I  could go on and on really!! What would make your list of all time Christmas Favorites and by what artist?

Back Again

On our way out of Kearney Friday, we saw this at a stop light.
And with tomorrow being December 1st, the boys are hoping to see Bobby some time soon.
And look who will be waiting for them in the morning! I'm hoping he arrived early enough after the boys went to bed that we could monitor Leo's reaction to our new house guest. So far, so good!
Bobby and Santa are always good about leaving notes on scraps of mommy's wrapping paper and now it looks like they are asking the boys to get into the spirit of giving to start out December. I'm sure they will be thrilled to see him back tomorrow! :)

Turkey Trot

Another successful Thanksgiving Day Race! It was a cold and windy day at the YMCA in Kearney, NE. This is my 3rd time running the 5.2 mile course that is filled with hills in the back half.
My final time was 50:30 and I averaged a 9:45 mile pace. Not too bad in the cold wind and hills of Kearney. :)

Soon it will be time to start training for my 8th Half Marathon. I'm glad to be back into the groove of running and very Thankful to have my husband registered for this race with me!
