Vitamin D

We leave on a family vacation full of fun and sun in less than a week!!! ☀️🍹🏝
So we decided to get a little extra Vitamin D this afternoon in preparation for our trip.
And Collin tried out the Stingray for the first ever!
He asked what he "got" for trying this...Mitchell told him "respect." I don't think that is exactly what he was hoping to recover, but he still got high fives from everyone. Then Mitchell was up next.
Fun and a little summer sun!

EOY, Summer and Swim

Summer has arrived and we now have a 3rd and 6th grader!
The last week was of school was full of excitement and programs.

And the first weekend of summer we spent at swim meet in Wichita where both boys swam two days and made improvements on their times.
Collin competed in his first ever 50m breast stroke and won his heat..he was pumped!
It was a fun weekend with our swim friends too! This is a great group of swimmers with some fun parents as well. :)

Collin is 8

Last weekend, Collin turned 8 years old and also is now officially a 3rd grader. He had a great time celebrating his birthday with friends!

Collin's birthday fell on graduation weekend but we still had a great turn out of friends from his school who were able to attend.

8 year old boys and nerf guns go together like peanut butter and jelly.

This is my favorite action shot from the party. Mitchell led the boys in several games...one of them being red light/green light.  And with a surprise late entry....Chad won the game. :)

We ended the day with a birthday supper along with Grandma and Grandpa Ammeter.  It was a fun day full of celebrating a pretty special 8 year old.

It seems like it was just yesterday that I was taking the picture of the bright eyed, full head of crazy jet black haired little baby.  He is such a blessing in our lives and I'm glad that he still loves his Mommy at 8. :)  Happy Birthday Collin Riley Bunger!

My 12th Half Marathon

The weather was perfect for the Bill Snyder Highway Half Marathon this morning!
After getting up extra early to book all our disney dining reservation (180 days...whoo-hoo!) Chad woke up early to drive me out to the starting line since this was a point to point race.

And I had plenty of time to hydrate a bit more and run into lots of running friends!  Another perk of running a local race!!
The two Angela's before the race. :)  Her first time as a pacer and she did amazing! Yeah for swim mom's who run half marathons!!

The starting line!  I ran the first 8 miles with the 2:10 pacer group and felt great.  It was fun to be with a group, chat and Highway 77 flew by with ease.

Unfortunately, when we hit town (specifically City Park), I wasn't able to keep pace with the 2:10 er's.  Instead of trying to push myself to falling apart, I decided to slow my pace.  The full sun and humidity hit and I was toast.

I finished in 2:15:01.  There minutes slower than this same race last year.  However, the route did change a bit toward the end from last year.  The hills of campus coupled with running up Jardine made the last 2 miles rough.  I was so thankful for Chad, the boys and my parents for being at several points on the race to cheer me on....I needed it!

A dozen half marathons since 2010.  I am certainly not even close to being a fast participant in any of these races....but I continue to be determined. :)

180 Days to Disney!!!

I admit, I've turned into a bit of a Disney Fanatic!  Maybe it's because Disney allows me to scratch that OCD and control-itch I tend to have....I can plan ahead, plan some more, make lists, have things mapped out, check things off my list, research how to make better lists.  All things right up my alley!

I have done my fair share of research at this point, using the past research I had from our trip (and the awesome outcome of my crazed OCD planning) and have been anticipating the 180 ADR date for quite some time with many reminders on my calendar.

A few weeks ago, we changed our travel dates and resort slightly to be able to take advantage of Disney's Free Dining Promotion...which is a huge savings and worth the adjustment of our travel date and resort location!  By changing our date, this meant that our 180 ADR date landed on the same day as my 12th half marathon.

For our first trip to Disney, I had the 180 day marked on my calendar, but hadn't looked into things enough to realize that to get the hard-to-snag reservations...you need to hop online at 6 a.m. (eastern time).  We still got a lot of the places we wanted, but had to eat at odd times to accomplish this and many restaurants on our list were completely booked.

This time around, I was prepared.  I woke up at 4:15 a.m.  Got ready for the half marathon, had my breakfast ready, my highlighted and prioritized list ready, and my computer on.  I also went an extra step (again crazy OCD research....one things I actually pin, follow and read on Pinterest too) and had my MyDisneyExpereince account open with the reservation I wanted the most.  The clock hit 5 a.m. and thanks to my list and endless blog reading for tips on booking dining reservations....by 5:22 a.m. I had not only booked all our dining reservations, I had also accomplished getting reservations at both the Hoop-Dee-Doo-Review and Be our Guest!!!!  I was unsuccessful getting either of these reservations in 2014 so I am SO excited we will be able to dine in Belle's Castle this time.  Beauty and the Beast is my favorite...maybe I'll wear a yellow gown that day for lunch if I can find one in my size? :)

We love Disneyworld!  And I love my husband for suggesting we take the family back!!!!

Swim Caps and Turning 39

Even with dad out of town...we still got a Saturday swim meet accomplished!
Collin swam 2 events in his second meet and was excited to wear his new swim cap that Coach Rob gave him last week!
Thanks to big brother for helping him actually get it on for the first time. :)
Mitchell did well at the course meet and logged his first times in the 100m breast stroke and 200m Freestyle
And cheered on his brother since they were the only 2 boys from our team swimming in the morning session in Lee Summit.
And before Chad left for Colorado, we celebrated his 39th birthday...May is full of birthday's and swimming for the Bunger's.

Mother's Day and A Week Off

"Whatever mother wants, mother gets."
This was Collin's declaration and it made for one awesome day!
Chad and the boys cleaned the house, did all laundry/put it away, planted flowers and did all yard work....
All with NO help from me...it was awesome.

And the rain didn't stop us from taking Great Grandma to church with us this morning..
Pretty great to celebrate the day with this 101 year old lady! ❤️
I also got a 5 mile hill run accomplished today after taking a week off due to a crazy week and huge head cold that I finally feel I'm on the mend from.
This week Mitchell was named one of the Swimmers of the Month for the Marlins, both boys participated in their schools Color Trot Fundraiser and Mitchell had a choir performance and also was a part of a school play with his leadership group. Another busy week is coming and its now less than 2 weeks to the Bill Snyder Half Marathon!
