Fly Fishing

Chad just returned home from his third fly fishing trip with a great group of guys from our church.  It looks like they had an amazing time!

This time they back packed into their camp site in a new area Chad has not fished before.  I am impressed with all this and it looks like it was well worth it for the group.  Fly fishing, camping and Colorado are certainly some of Chad's favorite things!

It's Been Awhile

August craziness has spilled over into a full September!

I'm in my second year as middle school cross country assistant coach. It keeps my schedule very full with everything else on our family calendar, but I enjoy working with these great kiddos.
Collin is playing flag football and so far is really liking it. He can be a bit of a hard sell on trying new things but we are pleased to see him like this new experience...his first game is this week!
Mitchell moved up to the White Group for the Marlins and is swimming 5 days a week. He also started band this week and is full of anticipation beginning the trombone!
All the back to school events are finally wrapped up and I'm excited for my 4th year at EMS and 11th year as a school counselor.

The next few weeks are packed for us. I'm running at practice but not much else. Hopefully I'll have a chance to update the blog with a bit more frequency in the near future.

Today 38 and Tomorrow 11

The August whirlwind of events continue with my birthday today. 38 is going to be great!
Other than finding it hard to believe that I'm actually 38, I really can't complain. My life is pretty darn good and my boys have really spoiled me today.
And tomorrow this little guy turns
 11.
OK, so he was never all that little. If you ever catch me complaining about how old I am, just remind me that it's probably better then my birthday in 2004 when I was 7 days overdue. I Spent the evening of my 27th birthday in the hospital where I gave birth to this 10 pound baby boy who made me a mommy for the very first time.
While I wouldn't wish being pregnant with a 10 pound baby in the heat of August on my worst enemy, I have to say we have been blessed with one caring, intelligent, creative, funny and amazing young man. Happy 11th Birthday Mitchell Lee Bunger. We can't to see what lies ahead in your very bright future!

2nd and 5th

The 2015-2016 school year had a soggy start, but that didn't get this 2nd and 5th grader down!
The most common comment I have gotten from this picture, besides how grown-up and cute our boys are is the size of Mitchell's feet. And yes, they are huge! He is currently wearing a size 9 and turns 11 years old and at the month. Whoa.
Collin:
Wants to be an adventurer or a police officer. Because he likes to go on adventures and try new things (Chad and I would probably question the try new things part, but OK whatever). And a police officer gets to be in charge. Oh, and he also added that you also help people. :)
Mitchell wants to be a civil engineer. He says he wants to do this because he is good at math, likes drawing and would like to design bridges someday. What mom and school counselor doesn't love this answer?!?!

We know they still have a while to figure all this out, but one thing is for certain these two charismaticboys are bound to have an amazing school year ahead of them!

Bookends Trips to the Omaha Zoo

We started out summer vacation with a trip to the Henry Doorly  Zoo just a few days after school was out in May.
It only seems fitting that we ended our great summer vacation at this same location just a couple of days before the school year starts!
We also celebrated our August Birthdays!
We had a great time celebrating everyone's birthday (there are four of us) who are in August with the Bunger Cousins!
After a night of swimming at Coco Keys, we spent the day back at the zoo.

And Sting Ray Beach has quickly become a family favorite!
We love this zoo!
One last day of summer for the boys before school on Tuesday!

End of Summer Adventure

I have been back to work for over a week, but the boys are still enjoying their end of summer with a few fun trips before school starts on August 18th.

Last week they got to go on a trip to Minnesota with Grandma and Grandpa Ammeter!  They were SO excited to visit their cousin Daniel and we were so thankful for my parents taking them along and for Aunt Amy, Uncle Doug and Daniel being such gracious hosts!!
The house was quiet with the boys gone all week, but both Chad and I had such crazy schedules for the week, that we didn't seem to be home much so it was a perfect time for the boys to take this end of the summer adventure.
I've had to take several days off running this week after pulling my hamstring last week.  I have ran over 20 miles 3 weeks in a row up until now, so not running these past few days has me feeling lazy but I know I need to let things heal up before middle school cross country season begins next week.

Even though Chad and I didn't spend much time at home last week with work and evening meetings, our cats must have noticed the drastic decrease in activity judging by the scene we came home to one evening.  Ellie had dragged out a total of 4 socks and 3 stuffed animals from both of the boy's rooms.  I am guessing this was her way of telling us she missed them?
